Tunisian President attends 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom' Premiere

President Moncef Marzouki of Tunisia attended the premiere of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom last night. The premiere was hosted by the South African embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Shoayb Casoo as the embassy’s flagship event celebrating South Africa’s 20 Years of Democracy. Representing the film at the event was Associate Producer, Nilesh Singh. Invited guests at the event included the Tunisian Health Minister, Mr Mohamed Salah Ben Ammar and the National Minister of Education, Mr Fathi Jarray. Also in attendance were representatives of the diplomatic corps stationed in Tunis, among whom were the ambassadors of India, Indonesia, Cote d’ivoire, the Netherlands, Palestine, Finland, Serbia, Burkina, Faso, Mali, Libya, the UAE and Algeria.

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom was launched in Berlin with great fanfare with a series of events which included a benefit banquet for the Nelson Mandela Foundation on Monday night at which international singing sensation, Katie Melua and South African-German singer, Joy Denalane performed. This was followed by a gala premiere last night at which producer Anant Singh, director Justin Chadwick, lead actor Idris Elba, Nelson Mandela’s daughter, Zindzi Mandela and Sello Hatang, CEO of the Nelson Mandela Foundation represented the film.

‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ takes Mumbai by storm

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom made its debut in India last night with a gala premiere in Mumbai with Executive Producer, Sudhir Pragjee and actors Terry Pheto (Mandela’s first wife, Evelyn) and Atandwa Kani (the young Mandela) representing the film. Making a star turn at the event was Bollywood great, Amitabh Bachchan who was the guest of honour. A host of other Bollywood personalities including actors, producers and directors who were eager to see the much anticipated film were also present. The audience reaction was unanimously positive.

Red Carpet Rollout of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom Continues

The national rollout of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom continued this week with premieres in East London on Thursday, and Cape Town last night ahead of the special sneak previews taking place this weekend across the country.

Walking the red carpet at the East London premiere were principal cast members Tony Kgoroge, Terry Pheto, Atandwa Kani, Zolani Mkiva and the Eastern Cape based cast including the 10-year old Siza Pini who plays Mandela as a child. The Mandela family was represented by Mandla Mandela's wife Nodiyala, Zwelithembile Mandela, Mvezo village head Jongisizwe Dani and the Mvezo Traditional Council. Xhosa King Zwelonke Sigcawu, regional government officials, the CEO and senior management of the Nelson Mandela Museum in Qunu were also present.
